Treatment Modalities

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and ACT/ Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as my main form of treatment, however, I also use Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and a humanistic approach to support my clients. I also pull from Bowenian Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and a few other modalities to ensure a well-rounded approach suited for each individual.

How it works.

My approach is casual, yet professional and approachable. I work to establish a safe and trusting environment and collaborative relationship through genuineness, honesty, and transparency. Through this approach, I provide a person-centered approach to explore positive change in a kind and supportive manner. While I can be direct when necessary, my goal is to support you in accomplishing your goals in a space that takes you and your needs into account so that you can work through your personal challenges and create a thriving future.

I offer 50-minute individual and joint sessions for children, pre-teens, adolescents, and adults. Our initial session will be an assessment during which time we will explore you or your child’s needs, wants, and goals for therapy. For this assessment, I utilize a biopsychosocial approach to complete the assessment where we will review diagnosis, demographics, symptoms, family history, personal needs, presenting challenges, and goals which we will use to develop a treatment plan and to identify potential diagnosis. Confidentiality, Mandated Reporting, Tarasoff/ Duty to Warn, and client Responsibilities will also be covered in this session.

Every subsequent session will be used to target the treatment plan as well as the needs, and goals of the client(s). Our sessions will be comprised of a beginning, where we will review the previous session and homework, if applicable, a middle portion where we will do the majority of our work, and an ending where we will review the session, review homework, and set an agenda for the next session.

After the required 8 weekly sessions we will collaboratively assess the direction of therapy and the possibility of reducing the frequency. The goal is to gradually reduce frequency as symptoms decrease and goal, and needs are met. Communication and honesty are imperative when discussing changes in frequency to ensure the best outcomes and should include all parties prior to any changes being made.

*Parents are required to attend the initial session and will be required to make arrangements to check-in on a regular basis.
